This is seriously cool…
ps: Sorry with the late post, I’ve been sick…
Well, there you have it. It’s out. Intel’s latest and greatest apparently is the latest and greatest indeed. There are a bunch of reviews out there if you’re interested, but in a nutshell, it’s fast. Taking anywhere between 50% to 100% increase of the previous generation, it’s deemed to be the new Core2Duo.
Coming in 3 flavours, the youngest (and cheapest) of the family also proves to be highly overclockable as well; aiming to replace the legendary Q6600 G0. Priced around $300, $600, and $900, Intel will definitely conquer the market once more even when AMD’s releasing its 45nm production next year. (afterall, it’s the same family, just smaller die size to conserve energy and a wee bit of performance increase)
The biggest issue I see is the rest of the package. Requiring a new socket, Nehalem forces its new adopters to replace the motherboard. Some early adopters of DDR3 RAM are able to re-use the parts, but the price has really gone down, PLUS the new trend seems to be triple-channels, no more duals. Indeed, the motherboard is the issue, pitching at $250 the CHEAPEST, hitting $400 for the true high ends.
Well, guess I’m not getting one set up anytime soon……. unless Boxing Day…. hmmm……
Why must one be close to death before they feel the greatness of life?
Why must one loose something before they can truly appreciate it?
Is it our inheritance of curse that won’t allow us to see the complete beauty of an object without any comparison?
Are all human born with this trait?
See the world. See the people that lives within it.
It is beautiful.
See it before it’s too late.
…to rule them all. Please allow me to share an awesome site where I can spend countless hours (literally) reading their materials.
Yay! Networking. Doesn’t everybody love networks?
Today I will talk a little about computer networking, hopefully the people who read this can actually learn a thing or two and can finally ask the right question when they have problems. Call it a Network-for-dummies, but the standard of a dummy has been, well, dumbed down.
Little disclaimer: Today’s post is somewhat written out of frustration, so do forgive me if it sounds a little awkward every now and then. Also, I’m not the inventor of the Internet nor a guru of Networking, so my info may be screwed up abit, but hey, it’s better than nothing.
So let’s begin………
A network is just like what it says. A network. A bunch of stuff that works – or “communicate” – together and/or share stuff between them. Think of social network but replace all the emo kids with a computer device.
Good question! A good example is commonly found in many regular north-american household; the “home network”. They are usually built so more than one computer can share an internet connection between them, and furthermore, share other things such as printers and stuff.
Other examples include a corporate network of 2 buildings on different physical location, yet the employee spout stuff like “hey, we’re on the same network” (without really knowing what it means) because the IT people says so and they are able to share printers and files without going to the Internet (at least that’s what they think…)
Note that bigger networks such as these are usually made from smaller networks; hence they’re actually network of networks. But don’t worry, I won’t go to such complicated discussions in this post.
Ever tired of your post-it notes all over the monitor? Ever wished that you have a software that can actually organize it for you inside your computer?
Look no further.
Zhorn software has created a beautiful, free, and simple program to do just that. Very very cool. Simple, works, and even have a few nifty little tricks up its sleeve.
It’s a few months old interview, yet it’s still awesome to read as I just found it in TokyoMango. It’s about the boom of a certain unique video site in Japan – one of the most special feature is the ability to post scrolling comments ON the video itself.
Hell, I couldn’t resist posting this… http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2006/11/most-dangerous-roads-in-world.html
There are 5 articles to cover many of these “most-dangerous” spots; and holy crap, the 5th entry on that page just sent my family jewels up to my lungs…
Here’s a sneak preview…

By the way, this place is roughly 2,000m above sea level.
