Actually, I’d like to squeeze in the word “determination” somewhere in that formula too, but then it’d probably get too complicated. Anyhow, that is what I learned today, and the main issue actually stems from the fact that it is not the first time I’ve learnt it. There goes reliability out of the window and the rest of them just went spiralling down…

Let’s begin with an example… You are asked to complete a task. It is not a complicated task and you have the confidence to complete it with little or no difficulty. However, you have a tendency to take things for granted and you know it. You are also aware of the fact that you have a record of making small mistakes and you do want to straighten that record. What set of mentality do you bring to complete this task?

What you should do to tackle the task is to put 110% of effort into it. And trust me, it alot easier said than done. Let me elaborate;

The fact that you have the tendency to take things for granted and – frankly – screw things up as small mistakes snowballed into a catastrophe should be enough reason for you to take the initiative to be extra attentive. Not only being attentive, but realizing your weakness, you should take charge of initiating your personal effort to ensure the completion of the task regardless how small and unsignificant it may be.

The other advantage of taking charge of your life, people around will also take notice of this effort and such will spark the growth of integrity and respect; and both will develop reliability value in front of others.

The whole reason I put it in such formula is because I believe that missing just one component can (and will, actually) destroy the whole equation. And when the whole equation is falling apart, the overall result of whatever you may be doing will be much worse than you imagine.

So in summary, I think the lesson is never take for granted. Put in 110% of effort into smaller things and believe me, they never go in vain.
