First all, last few days was not so good with the blog… GoDaddy seems to update some of their clusters and I’m guessing they’re updating some PHP versions as well…. so I couldn’t post on some days and sometimes can’t even open the site. But it seems to be much better now, so hopefully we’ll get things up and running as usual!
Next up is Pirate Bay’s fiasco. As some of you who’ve followed their story, the decision was made that the pirates founders have lost the legal battle and sentenced to one year in prison, following the shutdown of the piratebay.org trackers. Well, apparently, just like any pirates… they don’t come easy to kill.
Apparently in order to sustain the torrents from piratebay, they come up with an idea of trackerless torrents; called open tracker – you can find that at openbittorrent.com. The basic idea you can read in there, and more on the underlaying technologies at the Peer Exchange Wiki Page. Of course, legally, they’re not owned by the same people, although it’s funny to note the openbt domain is registered under one of the PirateBay founder…

Last up is a very cool guide on creating a Linux Media Box based on the latest Ion chip from Nvidia with Ubuntu OS. Check out the guide here: Bit-Tech Setup Guide. It’s awesome looking at the tiny board packing that much juice, as well as very cool media application: Boxee – definitely a must-check for Ubuntu fan! Short intro video below.
